Nail Tech Mentorship + Studio Shadow in Overland Park, Kansas

Private, hands-on mentorship for licensed nail technicians ready to strengthen their dry manicure, structured gel, studio workflow, and business skills.
Dry or Russian Manicure & Builder Gel Mentorship for Licensed Nail Techs
Learn what it actually looks like to build and operate a private nail studio—from behind the table.
I’m opening a limited number of opportunities for licensed nail technicians to step inside Ruthie’s Gel Nail Studio and experience the real day-to-day workings of an established private nail studio.
This isn't a traditional nail class.
You won't be sitting in a classroom watching a demonstration hand.
You'll shadow me during real client appointments while I talk you through my process, techniques, decision-making, studio systems, and the lessons I've learned while building my business.
This Private Studio Mentorship is available to licensed nail technicians only.
Why I Created This
There is so much more to becoming a successful nail technician than learning how to apply product.
How do you structure your appointments?
How do you create a workspace that actually functions well?
How do you stay organized and follow proper sanitation and State Board protocols?
How do you build a website, establish a Google presence, create policies, price your services, manage your schedule, and develop a clientele?
These are the things I had to learn while building Ruthie’s Gel Nail Studio.
Instead of simply teaching you how I do nails, I want to give you the opportunity to see how the entire business works in real life.
In this Private Studio Mentorship we will cover
PHASE ONE
The Studio Setup and Business Experience
In the first session, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how I operate my private studio.
We'll walk through my studio setup, organization, and workflow, including how I arrange my products, tools, and workspace to support efficient appointments.
We'll also discuss my experience becoming licensed and opening my business, the systems I use to manage appointments and clients, and how I established my website and Google presence.
Depending on your goals, we may also discuss:
-
Studio layout and functionality
-
Product and supply organization
-
Sanitation and disinfection systems
-
Appointment scheduling and client management
-
Policies and procedures
-
Pricing and service structure
-
Building a professional online presence
-
Creating a Google Business Profile
-
Developing a clientele
-
Lessons I've learned while building my business
-
Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions and talk through your own goals.
This session is designed to give you a realistic look at the business and studio systems behind the services—not just what happens at the nail table.
PHASE TWO
The Studio Shadow Experience
You'll join me in my private studio for a dedicated shadowing session during one complete client appointment.
Rather than simply watching, I'll talk you through what I'm doing and why I'm doing it.
Depending on the service scheduled that day, we may cover:
-
Client consultation and nail assessment
-
Dry manicure and cuticle preparation
-
E-file technique and safety
-
Product selection
-
Structured gel application
-
Building proper structure and apex
-
Shaping and finishing
-
Troubleshooting lifting, breakage, and other common issues
-
Appointment flow and time management
-
Client communication
-
Sanitation, disinfection, and studio protocols
-
You'll have the opportunity to ask questions as we go and see how I approach a real client appointment from beginning to end.
This session is designed to show you the techniques, decision-making, and client experience that you don't always get to see in a traditional nail class.
OPTIONAL PHASE THREE
Put What You've Learned Into Practice
After completing the Studio Shadow Experience, you'll have the option to apply for a Technique Assessment.
For this portion, you'll bring your own client/model and perform a complete nail service while I observe.
This gives me the opportunity to watch your process from beginning to end—including your sanitation practices, nail preparation, e-file safety, product application, structure, shaping, client communication, professionalism, and overall workflow.
Afterward, we'll discuss what you're doing well and the areas I believe you could continue strengthening.
And this is where the mentorship can become something more.
I currently have prospective clients that I simply do not have room to accommodate.
If, after personally observing your work, I feel confident in your technique, professionalism, sanitation practices, and the experience you provide your clients, I may be willing to personally recommend you to individuals looking for a nail technician.
My reputation and my clients' trust are extremely important to me, so an endorsement is never automatic.
Completing or paying for this mentorship does not guarantee a recommendation or referral.
An endorsement has to be earned.
The Investment — $500

Who I'm Looking For
This experience may be a great fit if you're a licensed nail technician who is serious about developing your skills and building a professional, sustainable, and independent nail business.
You don't need to have everything figured out, but you do need to be licensed in the State of Kansas
You don't need to have a client list.
And you don't need to own a studio before applying, but building toward owning your own private studio should be one of your long-term goals.
But you should be willing to learn, accept constructive feedback, ask questions, and take your business seriously.
Because this takes place during real appointments inside my private studio, mentorship availability will be intentionally limited.

Interested?
I'm currently accepting applications for the first participants in my Private Studio Mentorship.
Submitting an application does not obligate you to participate and does not guarantee acceptance.
It simply gives me an opportunity to learn more about you, where you are in your nail career, and what you're hoping to gain from the experience.
